Loquitur Theatre is committed to producing exceptional theatre with women at the centre of the story.

We are delighted to be presenting our next show 'Fémage à Trois' at Edinburgh with previews in London at two amazing off-west end venues. As the title suggests, the production is comprised of three independent 20 minute pieces, where each story meets the central character as she faces a life changing set of circumstances.

We are currently casting for:

Actress - playing age 60+.

She is elegant and dignified with an easy grace.

She is sharp and quick witted; a little bit feisty and opinionated and also philosophical with a zen like quality.

Strong natural RP accent.

Natural coloured hair (dyed is fine as long as it looks natural), ideally fair/fair-ish (sorry no red heads - we already have one in the cast).

Actress - playing age 17 (but must be adult in real life!).

West Asian (ie, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indian) or North African appearance.

Ability to dress with a hijab would be amazing.

Strong yet fragile quality. Dry wit and a dark sense of humour. She has always been well behaved and considered a good girl. She is slightly petulant but also vulnerable and terrified about the future.

Curating new work!

As you might know, our company name translates to ‘She Speaks’ and well, as per our ethos, we at Loquitur Theatre are committed to creating inspiring and exciting theatre, with women at the centre of every production.

We are delighted to announce our latest project ‘Fémage a Trois’ for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, to be performed at theSpace in the third week of the festival.

Fémage a Trois is a trilogy of stories about three independent women as they come to terms with the circumstances they face and the choices they must make.

We are always very keen to work and develop new relationships with exciting and up and coming writers. As a result, we are curating brilliant new writing for our final monologue for this production. The material will sit alongside two other pieces from ground breaking playwrights: Charlotte O’Leary and Bruntwood Prize winner Anna Jordan.

This particular piece that we are currently searching for will centre on one more mature woman’s story in a moment of climactic stress, or at a point where she is faced with a difficult decision or perhaps has nowhere to turn.

No more than 20 minutes long, the piece must be human, deep, poignant but ultimately comedic – in whatever form the comedy takes, hilarious or dark; the comedy of humanity must shine through the monologue and support the audience engagement with the story.

The end result is this collective trio will demonstrate how fascinating, shocking, desperate and hilarious the normality of life can be.

The deadline for submissions for this last monologue is 30 April, in pdf format, sent to with ‘Femage a Trois’ and your pen name in the subject line.

We will endeavour to reply to each and every one of you, and should you be unsuccessful at this point, please be rest assured that we will consider your material for future productions.
